Central Delivery Suite – Queen Elizabeth Hospital, King’s Lynn
K&H Medical were engaged to deliver a full medical gas refurbishment to the Central Delivery Suite and Water Lily Unit at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King’s Lynn, supporting a wider upgrade of maternity services.
The works were delivered in two main phases. Phase one focused on the disconnection and safe removal of redundant medical gas services, followed by the supply and installation of new infrastructure, including two AVSU Module Units (one 4-gas and one 3-gas) and new pipework to serve all relevant areas. A total of 24 new bedhead-style terminal units were installed across the Delivery Suite, supporting oxygen, vacuum, medical air 4-bar, and Entonox provision to birthing rooms, observation bays and specialist suites.
Phase two involved works in the existing CDS Theatre, including the replacement of the AVSU Module Unit with a new 5-gas model and reconnection to existing pendants and terminal units via high-level pipework.
Additional works were carried out to extend medical gas services to cot ends throughout both the Central Delivery Suite and Water Lily Unit. This included upgrading the AVSU Module Unit in the Water Lily Unit to a 4-gas system, as well as supplying a further 17 terminal units to support safe neonatal care.
All services were installed to HTM 02-01 standards and fully commissioned by K&H Medical engineers.
