At K&H Medical, we pride ourselves on delivering exceptional results across projects of all sizes, from large-scale installations valued at over £1,000,000 to more focused undertakings.
James Paget University Hospital sought a comprehensive refurbishment of Ward 3, including an upgrade to modern standards. As a specialist in medical gas systems, K&H Medical was contracted to handle all aspects related to the medical gas infrastructure.
While our portfolio showcases many of our larger projects, we believe that every project, regardless of scope or budget, plays a crucial role in supporting the healthcare industry. This case study highlights our commitment to excellence in even the most specialised and targeted tasks, ensuring that all of our clients receive the highest standard of service.
K&H Medical was responsible for the design, installation, and commissioning of the medical gas pipeline system within the refurbished ward. Our scope of work included:
- Removal of Existing Infrastructure:
We began by stripping out all the old pipework and installing new piping to accommodate the upgraded medical gas system. - Installation of New Copper Pipework:
From the downstream of the existing Area Valve Service Unit (AVSU) module, we installed new copper pipework at a high level to service the ward’s medical gas terminal units. The installation covered:- 5x 6-bed Bays: Each bay equipped with 6 oxygen and 6 vacuum terminal units.
- 4 Side Rooms: Each room equipped with 1 oxygen and 1 vacuum terminal units.
In total, the system was designed to support 34 beds across the ward.
- Commissioning:
Upon completion of the installation, our experienced Contracts Manager conducted a thorough commissioning process, completing all necessary tests, working closely with the hospital staff to ensure the new medical gas systems met all regulatory standards and were fully operational.
